After a mere month of training as a team, they showed impressive charisma and performance!
The long awaited debut of the new Aichi Prefecture ninjas took place at Aichi Prefecture’s sightseeing and history jewel, Nagoya Castle, on May 5th, 2016. Hattori Hanzo, Sukenoshin, Sanpei, Suiren, Ibuki, Tsukiage and Sora took to the stage in front of an excited crowd of spectators who were eager to see firsthand the charismatic members, all under the clear sky of Nagoya City and massive media coverage.
The stage was also graced by Aichi Governor Hideaki Omura, who came in for a symbolic mission bestowment ceremony, followed by a brief speech advocating the “Samurai Tourism” efforts of the prefecture’s government.
The new ninjas leaped and bound across the stage in a stunning display of prowess, artistically staging historic duels and incidents. They were, of course, very capable to begin with, as demonstrated at the auditions. However, just a month of intense training proved that the collective excellence they are able to achieve is much more than the simple sum of their skills.
Stealing quite a bit of the attention was, again, Sora, played by the American Chris O’Neil. The audience burst in awe and excitement every time he came up front at the stage. Later at a press gathering, when asked if he was satisfied with the team’s performance that day, he mentioned that “it may not have looked like we gave 100%, but I know each one of us gave his or her own 100%, so that is enough to make me happy. We will train more to really appear as we’re giving our 100% as well”. Very professional!
