The Tahara festival is a hallmark of the castle town of Tahara.
In the afternoon, three floats with Karakuri Ningyo (mechanical dolls) perched on top and portable shrines from each town parade through the streets, and at night, gaudily-clad children and youngsters sit atop night floats, dancing with their arms and hands.
As evening approaches on the final day of the festival, a magnificent display featuring both hand-held and cannon-type fireworks is held at Hananoki Plaza, and this is brought to a dramatic climax at eight in the evening as the sky is lit up with a tapestry of beautiful colors.
