Meiji-Mura was opened in 1965 as an open-air museum to permanently preserve and exhibit valuable buildings and historical materials of the Meiji Era when the foundation of modern Japan was established. There are 10 buildings designated as the national important cultural properties and 68 historical buildings including the one designated as a tangible cultural property of Aichi Prefecture are relocated in the one million square-meter site at the Irigaike Pond smartly harmonizing with beautiful nature. The present head of Mura or museum is Mr. Hisaya Morishige, a renowned actor.
