Tahara-City Mt. Zao Observation Platform

A perfect view of Tahara City's beautiful nature and nightscape

Mt. Zao Observation Platform sits atop Mt. Zao with its highest floor offering a wondrous 360-degree panoramic view of Mikawa Bay, Chita Peninsula, Cape Irago, and the Pacific Ocean. The platform sits at the mountain's peak 250 meters above sea level, reachable through hiking courses offering a vigorous walk as you enjoy the surrounding nature.
Displays featuring video graphics and ecological initiatives offer educational experiences and you can satiate your hunger with beef stew using beef raised in Tahara at the cafe!

Gaze in awe upon Tahara's stunning nightscape

As the sun goes down, the lights come on throughout Atsumi Peninsula for a soft illumination accent to the moonlit and starry night sky. The spot's incredible contrast is even included in the Top 100 Night Views of Japan. The platform itself also lights up with different themes by season, evening offering its "Walk Through the Starry Sky".
