Toyota-City Tomoe River Goldfish Fireworks Display
Date : 08/10/2024
Flames swim gracefully through the river's current
The Tomoe River Goldfish Fireworks Display was originally held from the Meiji period to around 1950 in Shobujima of the Matsudaira area in Toyota City and came back into practice as a revival of the traditional event. Each year in mid-August, young men from the area sing the old song Kumosuke Dochu as they parade through the Kugyudaira shopping street before the fireworks.
Awe-inspiring tezutsu handheld cannon fireworks, airborne fireworks, and goldfish fireworks—flames swimming gracefully through Tomoe River just like fish—put all in a festive spirit.
