Akatsukayama Park is known for its wild bayberries. But its 4,900 m2 plum grove is just as tantalizing with 273 plum trees of 25 varieties, such as early bloomers, late blooming weeping types, and more largely coming into bloom during mid-February.
Other rare varieties begin to bloom around late Feb and offer both red and white flowers on a single tree.
