Toyota-City Mennoki Soft Rime Virgin Forest

Date : Around Mid-Dec–Feb

  • Mennoki Soft Rime Virgin Forest

Mennoki Virgin Forest is a special reserve in Tenryu Okumikawa Quasi National Park with old-growth beech trees over 300 years old. From the observation deck, you can even see Mt. Fuji if the weather is right.
When the temperature reaches -5°C or colder, a soft rime—or airborne water droplets in fog which freeze into ice—sticks to the tree branches, painting the trees in a snow white color.
