The oldest surviving illustrated handscrolls,
available to view for a limited time

The Tale of Genji illustrated handscrolls in the Tokugawa Art Museum's possession are one of its collection treasures but also a national treasure of Japan and show in detail the elegance of court life during the dynastic period of Japan. Every late November, several scenes are selected from the scrolls for special display. This year features The Gatehouse, A Picture Contest, and Bamboo River (2).

• Price: JPY 100/standard-sized vehicles every 25 min. / JPY 500/first hour for buses, JPY 500 every following 30 min.
