A festival of flavor and fall colors in Asahi's remote mountains

This maple festival is held in order to showcase the autumn leaves of Sasado Park, which has been cared for and maintained over the years by the townsfolk of the Sasado Onsen Promotion Association.

The Asahi area's location among the mountains in Toyota City, with differences in altitude and climatic conditions, makes it colder than nearby areas, being ideal for cultivation of wild jinenjo yams. The natural environment makes the yams grown here very similar to the plants grown in the wild, equivalent in taste, fragrance, mouthfeel, and color.
The event was originally started as the Asahi Jinenjo Fest in 2004, but moved to the autumn season in order to coincide with the Maple Festival in 2008, and has been carried out in this way ever since.
