Nagoya-City Arimatsu Temmansha Shrine Autumn Festival
(Arimatsu Float Festival)

Date : 10/06/2024

Ornate cultural properties up close in an authentic atmosphere

The historic town of Arimatsu in Nagoya City holds the Arimatsu Float Festival as the autumn festival for its Arimatsu Temmansha Shrine on the first Sunday of October every year. The three Hotei, Karako, and Jingu Kogo Floats—designated as tangible folk cultural properties of Nagoya City—offer incredible sights as they are turned around by sheer manpower and display performances by mechanized karakuri puppets atop.
At night, the three floats are adorned with approximately 250 paper lanterns which show them in a new light, literally, as they parade through the streets in an extraordinary ambience.
