A carpet of rare flowers covering Inabu's mountainside
Ornate orange spider lilies (Lycoris sanguinea)—belonging to the amaryllis family—grow wild in Mt. Okuri's zelkova forest. The best viewing time is mid-August, but the flowers are in bloom every early to late August.
Head out with comfortable shoes as a short hike is required to get to the flowers. Find details on the exact location from the Inabu Tourist Information Center at Donguri no Sato Inabu Rest Stop. The staff also has info on the many nearby sightseeing spots, so make a day of it!
