One of the world's biggest cosplay festivals

Japan's culture of anime, manga, games, and special effects has recently been spreading far and wide around the world. Its breakthrough in recent years is particularly striking—even now becoming an international phenomenon of youth culture.

And one of the largest cosplay festivals—the World Cosplay Summit—is back in 2024 from Friday, August 2 to Sunday, August 4. World Cosplay Championship 2024 acts as the main event with the representative cosplayers from countries around the world coming to duke it out for the title in the city of Nagoya. A cosplay runway and numerous other events make for another tantalizing time.

From Nagoya to the rest of Japan… and the world!

World Cosplay Summit

Started in 2003, the World Cosplay Summit—or WCS—grew exponentially in the following years to become a mecca for international cosplayers. The event is held each summer in the city of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, and in 2023, hosted more than 36 countries and regions.
Nagoya works to invigorate its own local communities and stimulate the economy under the motto of "Cosplay" while at the same time offering a funfilled opportunity to enter a world of anime, manga, game, and other characters as they walk the streets. It's even spreading the joy around the world via online streaming.
