Watching over the town of Asuke since the ancient Warring States period

The original Asuke Castle was where the Suzuki Clan of Asuke resided and expanded their influence by gaining dominion over powerful village leaders in the surrounding area. The castle standing atop Mt. Mayumi today is actually a reconstruction brought back to life in meticulous detail thanks to surveys and excavations to make it the first reconstructed mountain castle in all of Japan. The term "mountain castle" refers to castles of slightly simpler construction using wood, earthen walls, and other readily available materials.
The original construction period of Asuke Castle is unknown, but the rebuilt Asuke Castle represents the last years of the castle in the style of the late 16th century.
