Minamichita-Town Utsumi Beach
Selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Beaches
If you ask anyone in Aichi what a good beach is, they'll undoubtably reply with, "Utsumi Beach". Residents of Nagoya City and the wider Owari region love it especially as nearby Utsumi Station on the Meitetsu Line allows access while cars can get there quick on Chitahanto Road.
The beach is well known for its nearly two-kilometer-long, bow-shaped, and fine-sand beach along a stretch of shallow water, working its way some 80 meters inland as one of the Tokai region's—the region of which Aichi Prefecture is part—largest and most popular beaches. Showers and restrooms are available and, just in case, lifeguards and aid stations offer peace of mind as you swim through the beautiful beach waters.
The main Chidorigahama Beach is so spectacular it is named as one of Japan's Top 100 Beaches and its sunsets are enough to set you in a state of total awe. But you don't have to swim to enjoy the beach; take a stroll along its sands. Or enjoy fishing at New Utsumi Port to the west. The sandy spot sees a splurge of fishermen with their sights on sillago and flatheads from June.
