AEON MALL TOKONAME
Aeon Mall shopping centers are found all over Japan and this one recently opened near Centrair Airport. Besides its 180 specialist shops, this vast mall is home to a go-kart circuit, a hot spring, and barbecue area amongst other facilities. Some shops also offer the delights of tax-free shopping. There's a free shuttle bus from Centrair.
In the mall's Manekineko Street, one of these giant, beckoning cats will be there to greet you.
Manekinekos are displayed in Japan as talismans whose raised paw, it is said, draws in money and customers. Manekinekos originate from Tokoname City.
The mall is home to one of the largest manekinekos in the world; Otafuku (which means lots of good fortune), who bestows good luck upon everyone who visits.
Make sure you don't forget to get your picture taken together!
