- When looking for some peace and quiet, many head for the nearest art gallery. When you’re looking for peace and quite in Aichi, you may wish to head to one of the three small islands just off the prefecture’s coast. The largest of the three and with a population of around 300 is Sakushima. Three times the size of Tokyo Disneyland, it is only 11.5 km around the island, and 2km from one side to the other, and aside from the white sandy Ooura swimming beach and its refreshingly clear waters, the wide, unspoiled nature and tranquility, there isn’t much happening, which makes the picturesque Sakushima an ideal art gallery.
