Japan's first consolidated broadcasting tower
Nagoya TV Tower in Hisaya-Odori Park is a soaring 180 meters high and was Japan's first-ever steel consolidated steel broadcasting tower. Constructed in 1954, it preceded Tokyo Tower, built in 1958, and Sapporo TV Tower, built in 1957. Thus, as you can imagine it was at the forefront of buildings at the time.
It also boasts more than 50 years as a sightseeing tower for its expansive, breathtaking views, and is designated a tangible cultural property of Japan. As of May 1, 2021, it has taken the name of "Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER".
